How To Add Custom Background To Your SU Blog

Posted September 15, 2008
  1. The simplest way to mess up modify your SU blog with a custom background image is to use SU LayoutCreator script. SU LayoutCreator is made for Greasemonkey Firefox extension, so you should have Firefox Web Browser installed to use it. You can download Firefox from here. Note that SU LayoutCreator is in early stage of development and in some cases, using it improperly can 'lock' your blog (but if this happened to you, don't worry: it's completely reversible). See this post.
  2. Download and install Greasemonkey for Firefox (restart Firefox).
  3. Go to SU LayoutCreator page and
click 'Install this script' button. Once the script is installed, go to Tools-Greasemonkey-Manage User Scripts, make sure your new script is enabled.
  4. Custom background is fully visible only if you use the 'Carbon' SU theme, thanks to the fact that most elements in this theme are transparent. To use Carbon theme, go to your SU page -> Preferences->Public Profile->Select a theme for your profile(select the last black square). Some people use custom background with other color themes, but in such cases it looks more like borders than background:
  5.

  6. Browse the web for the background image you want to use, copy its URL address ('Copy Image Link' in the context menu) and select Post to Blog. Note that URL must end with .jpg, .gif, or .png.
  7. Click 'Create Layout' enter your bg url and play around with your options.Click 'Generate Layout Code + Preview' then 'Post new blog' and your set!

Did everything the way it says got it to work once and now it doesn't work at all

I tried this and it worked only on the first page of my posts.
I think it could be made a lot simpler to use.
As of right now, I won't be using it.
I would much rather you guys give us a way to recover our stumbleupon music player password.

i would use it if it was made simpler to install,

I'm back though it took some of us awhile we got the hang of it and it is fabulous, thought I think someone failed to mention that you must add a page at a time so that the layout will scroll over to page 2 and so forth before you post to blog another layout page..

Maybe try rewording step 5. Specifically "select post to blog" doesn't really carry any meaning. it is too vague. also step 6 "click 'create layout'". Where do i find that. maybe i missed somewhere how to actually access the features of su-layout-creator i have firefox and greasemonkey and the script says it is enabled when i am on my stumbleupon page. what am i missing?

If you need more help visit this forum and someone will help you...It really is not that hard.
